Machinist Matthew Maguire is credited with starting Labor Day in 1882 to honor workers who fought for fairness, safety, and respect in their workplaces. The HQ Labor Day rally officially launches the start of Labor Day. We’ve also invited elected officials from across the state and IAM members in the surrounding area to join us to kick off Labor Day week. We will speak on what Labor Day means for our members across the U.S. and Canada.
