Let’s Indigenize the City with Indigenous Peoples’ Day: An antidote to Anti-Indian / Anti-Native racism, white supremacy, and settler colonialism. The 4th workshop, to be held on Saturday, January 22nd from 1 pm-3:30 pm EST via Zoom, aims to deconstruct stereotypes of “the Indian,” build a narrative in its place that celebrates the wealth of Indigenous cultures, histories, knowledge, and politics, and create an educational environment that is empathetic and caring to Native Americans from across the Americas. This is the last one of the series and will be more of a wrap-up. Our goal will be to reflect on what we were able to accomplish since the first workshop and what still needs to be done to promote awareness of Indigenous peoples throughout Philadelphia in 2022. You are welcome to attend this one and the last one. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from Native leaders and collaborate in small groups to brainstorm how we can Indigenize the schools, libraries, media, and CITY. For general questions, please contact facilitators Nikki Apana and Mabel Negrete (contact@ipdphilly.org) We look forward to seeing you at our workshop! In Community, IPD PHILLY, INC
