Join us at our monthly Green Gathering on Monday 9th March at 7:30pm! The event is being recorded. By attending you consent to possibly being included in photography, video and /or audio recording which may be published publicly. If you do not want to be recorded, please make yourself known to the organisers. Sue Mallender has been a Green Party member since 1983, a Rushcliffe Borough Councillor representing the Green Party in Lady Bay Ward since 2003, and a trade unionist all her working life. A former teacher in the National Union of Teachers (now the National Education Union), Sue began working for Nottingham City Council in 2005 and has been a steward for the trade union UNISON since then. Sue spent 11 years as a Senior Steward mainly representing UNISON members in Adults and Children Social Care. She is currently a steward representing members in Nottingham City Museums. Sue is also Nottingham City UNISON's Branch Environment Officer and a UNISON Learning Representative. Since reaching a peak in 1970s, trade union membership in the UK has been consistently falling, yet many of the rights at work that we take for granted were fought for and won by the collective power of unions. Sue will be presenting a talk explaining what trade unions are and how they can help you, and why Green Party members and supporters should join trade unions and be active within them. There will be information about the Green Party Trade Union Group, and Sue will also be discussing the UNISON Year of Green Activity 2026 and the role of UNISON's Nottinghamshire Learning Forum within it. We're meeting both in-person in the city centre, and online over Zoom! Please RSVP for email reminders and meeting details. If you'd like to attend, we aim to foster as welcoming and inclusive an environment as possible. If you have any accessibility requirements, please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate you.
