We'll discuss three speeches and essays from late Ottoman and early mandate Palestine written by Arab Jews, including the feminist Esther Azhari Moyal, the journalist Nissim Ya'acov Malul, and the intellectual Hayyim Ben-Kiki. We'll also read an article by scholars Moshe Behar and Zvi Ben-Dor Benite which contextualizes these primary sources. This session is conducted in English, but all languages are welcome! Prior reading is not required, but highly encouraged. We ask that participants prepare at least one discussion question for the event.
