Join the NEC on April 13th at 7pm EST to deliberate and vote to shape our Consensus Resolution to be submitted for this year's National Convention in August! In just 5 short months 1,000 DSA members will be in-person together deciding the future of our organization at the 2025 DSA National Convention. This means whether we like it or not, DSA convention season is upon us. As per the convention rules, the NEC can submit a consensus resolution. A consensus resolution is different from other DSA resolutions, instead of being written and proposed by an individual or caucus, it will be proposed by the entire NEC body. The goal of this is to find common ground among DSA’s many viewpoints and ensure the resolutions debated at convention and rooted in the lessons learned from our electoral work. The NEC Steering Committee is committed to ensuring the NEC consensus resolutions we put forward are thoroughly debated and democratically determined by the NEC membership. We voted to put forward the below guidelines and process. The NEC will submit one resolution, but each clause will be determined by our membership. Any NEC member can bring forward a clause to be added to the consensus resolution or amend one that has been proposed. A clause must receive 60% of voting members to be added to the consensus resolution, amendments need a simple majority. All voting will take place at an All Member Call on Sunday, April 13th and be conducted via Roberts Rules. Upon the conclusion of voting the NEC SC will write and approve “whereas” clauses to accompany the resolution. The consensus resolution will require 250 signatures from any DSA member in good standing to be submitted, the NEC SC will bottom line collecting those signatures.
