This attack is part of the Trump Administration’s imperialist attempts to seize Venezuela’s oil resources; the Trump administration is using false allegations of “drug trafficking” to launch an illegal invasion to preserve US hegemony over Latin America. As of this morning, the Trump administration has announced their intention to “run” Venezuela and extract its oil wealth--regardless of the desires of the Venezuelan people. As democratic socialists, we in DSA-LA firmly stand in solidarity with the people of Venezuela and demand an immediate end to the illegal US invasion of Venezuela.
