<title>October Community Conversations: On Antisemitism &amp; Shared Safety</title>
	<thumbnail_url>https://actionnetwork.org//images/generic_facebook.jpg</thumbnail_url>
<description>Na’amod invites you to the next in our series of online Community Conversations: spaces for Jewish people to talk openly about antisemitism, our relationships to Palestine-Israel and Zionism, and how we build collective safety through solidarity rather than separation. Open to anyone who identifies as Jewish. Next session Rewriting the Script: Living Through Loss &amp;amp; Holding Onto Collective Liberation After a Hamas Attack Na’amodnik Rahel grew up in a religious Zionist community in Jerusalem and was proud to serve in the IDF. Over time, her politics shifted and she became involved in anti-occupation activism. When Rahel’s mother was killed in a Hamas bus bombing, the kind of violence at the heart of so many Jewish fears became painfully personal. But in the wake of that loss, her conviction and commitment to fighting for equality, justice and a shared future with Palestinians remained. Rahel’s story offers a different way into some of the questions at the heart of these conversations: how our experiences of antisemitism and violence shape our politics, and how Zionism has become bound up with ideas of safety. As we approach the third anniversary of the October 7 attacks and three years of genocide in Gaza, this conversation also offers space to reflect on how we can rewrite the script for responding to profound loss without allowing grief and fear to lead us towards further violence and separation. In conversation with Na’amodnik Gabriella, Rahel will discuss her political journey, the loss of her mother, and how she remains committed to collective liberation for all. About Rahel Rahel left Israel in 2003. A chronic migrant, she has lived in the US, the Netherlands and Fiji before moving to the UK in 2016. She&#x27;s been involved in community organising and advocacy wherever she&#x27;s landed. She joined Na&#x27;amod in April 2026 and works for a tech start up. She lives in Portsmouth with her wife and two younger children; her eldest is off at university. What to expect For this session, we’ll begin with a longer conversation between Rahel and Gabriella. We’ll then move into small, facilitated breakout groups for the second part of the session, giving everyone space to reflect on what they’ve heard, share what these questions bring up for them, and listen to different experiences and perspectives. The whole session will last 1 hour 45 minutes. Come ready to both listen and share. We want to make room for honest discussion, complexity and different experiences, while thinking together about how we respond seriously to antisemitism and its political misuse in ways rooted in anti-racism, collective safety and solidarity. About Community Conversations We started Community Conversations after hundreds of people signed up for an open conversation on antisemitism following the Golders Green attacks. It was clear there was a need for more space for Jews to talk honestly about experiences of antisemitism, questions of safety, Palestine-Israel, Zionism and Jewish identity - especially the things that don’t always fit neatly into our usual political or communal spaces. The series is still developing, and individual sessions may take different forms as we learn what participants find most useful. We want these spaces to be shaped by the people who use them, so we’ll continue listening, experimenting and adapting as we go. About Na’amod’s Antisemitism &amp;amp; Islamophobia Working Group Na’amod is a movement of Jews in the UK organising for Palestinian liberation and against occupation, apartheid and genocide. The Antisemitism &amp;amp; Islamophobia Working Group works to understand and challenge antisemitism in its own right, while locating it within wider struggles against Islamophobia, anti-Palestinian racism and other forms of oppression, and navigating the ways antisemitism and its political misuse intersect with Palestine solidarity. We develop resources, support members, shape public responses, and create spaces for difficult conversations and solidarity across communities.
