<description>Join Housing Works and Hep Free NYC as the City Council announces a resolution to officially recognize World Hepatitis Day! WHEN: Thursday, October 22nd, 2026 TIME: Exact time TBD WHERE: City Hall (Exact meeting location TBD) As a city and state, we have made great strides to successfully reduce the burden of Hepatitis C among New Yorkers, especially when it comes to lowering the infection rate. Since 2019, rates of hepatitis c diagnosis continue to decline in New York State, decreasing by nearly 43.1% statewide and 42.4% in New York City. However, there is still more to be done. Black and Latine New Yorkers continue to see high and disproportionate rates of hepatitis c diagnosis. While a cure for hepatitis c (HCV) exists, we are still failing to bridge the gap between diagnosis and treatment. We hope you can join us!
