CTU contracts at more than a dozen charter schools are currently in negotiations, including the Acero charter schools. In these negotiations, we are hoping to improve student learning and educator working conditions in ways that set a precedent for other schools in Chicago—including schools managed by the Board of Education. We are fighting for Supportive, Safe, and Sustainable Schools, increased staffing to support student needs: especially for Special Education, Bilingual Education, including Interventionists. Our students and their families need wraparound services and charter employees deserve fair pay and benefits: equal pay for equal work, increased paraprofessional pay, 12 weeks of paid parental leave, and safe, environmentally sustainable schools.
