REPORT FROM MIAMI: RESISTING TRANSATLANTIC CORPORATE TRADE

	<thumbnail_url>https://can2-prod.s3.amazonaws.com/events/photos/000/075/829/normal/Miami_Press_Conference.jpg</thumbnail_url>

At this week’s 11th Round of the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership meeting in Miami, Chief U.S. Negotiator, Dan Mullaney, stated that the timeline to seal the deal is supposedly during President Obama’s term. Unfortunately, Europeans have quite a lot to say about that, and so do we! Apparently, since the citizens of the E.U. have more access to the texts of TTIP than we do, there is massive popular resistance to this deal and the neoliberal model in general. Turns out that the people are taking to the streets in large numbers protesting the ideology that enshrines corporate interests having sovereignty over nation states. Europeans tend to be very opinionated about the consideration of climate science and environmental protection along with living wages and public health, when it comes to approving a binding trade agreement like TTIP. Funny, we feel the same way. National TPP Team Call Sunday, October 25 / 4:30 Pacific / 7:30 Eastern Time Report From Miami: Resisting the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership This week’s special guest speaker, William Waren, Trade Policy Analyst with Friends of the Earth will give us his perspective on the environmental implications of TTIP and current free trade models in general; We will also hear an insider’s report on TTIP from Celeste Drake, Trade and Globalization Policy Specialist with AFL-CIO, along with an important transparency and democracy in trade call to the U.S. Trade Rep; Mackenzie McDonald Wilkins, Climate and Trade Justice Activist, Popular Resistance, Flush the TPP will give us an update on the November 14-18 D.C. mass days of action; Emilianne Slaydon, TPP Media March, will update us on this TPP Tuesday’s Twitter storm; Adam Weissman, TradeJustice New York Metro will give us current trade updates; Harriet Heywood will give a report on the Miami TTIP events.
