Rosebank and Palestine

	<thumbnail_url>https://can2-prod.s3.amazonaws.com/events/photos/003/038/135/normal/_stoprosebank.png</thumbnail_url>

What links the Rosebank oil field to the struggle for Palestinian liberation? Rosebank, the largest undeveloped oil field in the UK North Sea, is often framed as a climate issue. But it is also a question of international law, corporate complicity, and solidarity with Palestine. While Equinor owns 80% of Rosebank, the remaining 20% is owned by Ithaca Energy. Ithaca’s parent company is the Delek Group - a major Israeli energy conglomerate - which has been flagged by the United Nations for its involvement in activities linked to Israel’s illegal settlements in occupied Palestinian territory. If the UK Government re-approves Rosebank, over £200 million in oil profits could flow to the Delek Group - potentially placing the UK in breach of its obligations under international law. Rosebank is not just a carbon bomb: it is a test. Will the UK will bankroll occupation while claiming to support human rights? This panel brings together climate and Palestine solidarity organisers to explore the intersections of fossil fuel expansion, corporate power, international law and liberation struggles. Speakers include: Julia - Campaigner with Stop Rosebank. Julia has been a key organiser across feminism, anti-racism, global justice movements, divestment campaigns and community space organising. Rosie - Campaigner at Fossil Free London. Rosie has organised across the UK climate and social justice movement, including with Extinction Rebellion, Green New Deal Rising and Climate Vanguard. Previously working with young people campaigning for climate education, she now focuses on bringing new people into the movement and organising creative direct action against the fossil fuel industry. She is particularly passionate about the intersections of climate breakdown, capitalism and liberatory struggles. & more to be announced.
