How deep do academic connections to the occupation go? In what ways can we perform and highlight anti-colonial science? Science for the People is hosting a discussion on the many ways science and scientists are connected to the Palestinian struggle. Building off of previous work by Science for the People on science under colonial occupation and the tight relationship between science and militarism, we hope for this event to be a venue to discuss the connections of science with the ongoing brutal occupation and the struggle for liberation in Palestine. We will be joined by speakers from the Latin American School of Medicine (ELAM) who are Palestinian medical school students who will share their experience their experience as medical workers under occupation. Science for the People (SftP)is dedicated to building social movements and political struggles with radical perspectives on science and society. We are workers, educators, and students in STEM and related fields committed to the democratic practice of science for the benefit of humanity and the planet. SftP publishes a magazine with three issues a year, featuring authors from around the world writing on these and related topics. Quelle est la profondeur des liens universitaires avec l’occupation? De quelles manières pouvons-nous effectuer et mettre en lumière la science anticoloniale? Science pour le peuple organise une discussion sur les nombreuses façons dont la science et les scientifiques sont liés à la lutte palestinienne. S'appuyant sur les travaux antérieurs de Science pour le peuple sur la science sous occupation coloniale et la relation étroite entre la science et le militarisme, nous espérons que cet événement sera un lieu pour discuter des liens de la science avec l'occupation brutale en cours et la lutte pour la libération en Palestine. Nous serons rejoints par des intervenants de l'École latino-américaine de médecine (ELAM) qui sont des étudiants palestiniens en médecine et qui partageront leur expérience en tant que travailleurs médicaux sous l'occupation. Science pour le peuple (SftP) se consacre à la construction de mouvements sociaux et de luttes politiques avec des perspectives radicales sur la science et la société. Nous sommes des travailleuses/travailleurs, des éducatrices/éducateurs et des étudiant.es dans les STIM et les domaines connexes engagé.es dans la pratique démocratique de la science pour le bénéfice de l’humanité et de la planète.
