Over the past 3 years, elected officials and residents throughout the Hudson Valley came together to stop the expansion of a pipeline, then dubbed Project Maple, that runs through Peekskill. Now, Now, Enbridge is trying to expand that pipeline again and has introduced the project as "Project Beacon". It's a new name but same idea- expand a dirty, expensive pipeline to bring in more fracked gas while we suffer the consequences. We cannot afford the higher bills and added pollution this pipeline expansion would bring. We can stop Enbridge with enough people power and representatives at all levels of government coming out to ensure this pipeline is stopped. Unfortunately, our current congressmember Mike Lawler has taken gobs of money from Oil & Gas and is a former lobbyist for the fossil fuel industry. On Tuesday, we will be joined by local elected officials and candidates for Congress who will highlight what real leadership to lower utility bills and cut climate-heating pollution looks like. Join our rally to stop the Enbridge pipeline! While the details on the Enbridge pipeline expansion (now dubbed Project Beacon") are not firmed up yet, showcasing opposition early is crucial to making sure this pipeline does not get expanded in New York.
