Educational presentations including residential solar, heat pumps, climate change and carbon fees as well as native plantings are scheduled. Creative interactive workshops will include sun-themed quilting for beginners, two sessions for the creation of sun catchers, solar oven construction, and two poetry workshops appropriate for different age groups. A creative photosynthesis workshop, children's sun-themed books and art project, chalk art and face painting will add to the joyous festivities of the day. A solar home tour, a behind the scenes tour of the Branford Land Trust House and its heat pump and energy efficiency upgrades, a tour of the Tabor solar array, a talk by the artist who created our community sundial sourced from Branford's historical granite quarry, a drumming circle, and a sunset hike will all add to the highlights of the day. All these events are offered free of charge. We are reaching out to our businesses and eateries to provide sun-themed activities and food items for sale on their premises. A local yoga studio is offering a session that highlights a sequence of sun salutation poses. One of our local restaurants will be serving from its solar-powered trailer. We are in the process of securing fun and exciting performances which will begin at 7:00PM, site TBD. Our website is being constructed where all scheduled events will be listed and described.
