Tale of Two Buildings: Winning a more affordable, cleaner NYC

	<thumbnail_url>https://actionnetwork.org//images/generic_facebook.jpg</thumbnail_url>

Join us and Council members Carmen De La Rosa and Lincoln Restler to push forward Intro 1180, legislation to clean up our buildings, lower our bills and bring green jobs to New York! Intro 1180 is legislation currently in the City Council that would close a loophole that MAGA mayor Eric Adams put in NYC's leading jobs and climate law (Local Law 97) that allows Big Landlords to keep polluting our city with dirty, expensive fracked gas. We know we need to move off fossil fuels and have a law on the books already so that our city instead runs on renewables and energy efficiency--saving us all money and cutting climate heating pollution. We'll joining elected officials and advocates to showcase to two buildings right by each other in lower Manhattan. One is well on it's way to becoming a energy efficient, money saving building while the other is in danger of staying on dirty, expensive gas and polluting the neighborhood for all of us. Instead of higher bills and more pollution, we have a real solution so that New York City stands up to Trump and his disastrous climate policies. We must pass Intro 1180 to close the Landlord loophole in Local Law 97. For more information on 1180, check out this memo. In New York City, Buildings account for 70% of climate-heating pollution which translates into dirties air, more hospital visits for related illnesses and higher utility bills to burn and maintain all the fracked gas infrastructure involved in that heating. Energy efficiency is what our city needs in order to use less energy and save more money and Intro 1180 will hold Big Landlords accountable to residents here in NYC. Join us and bring a friend--it's going to take real people to close the Landlord loophole put in by Eric Adams and ensure we have a livable city for all.
