The Solar Revolution Update: Bill McKibben Speaks

	<thumbnail_url>https://can2-prod.s3.amazonaws.com/events/photos/003/105/756/normal/Color_FINAL.png</thumbnail_url>

Join 350Brooklyn for an update on the solar revolution with Bill McKibben, climate movement leader and author of “Here Comes the Sun,” who will give a talk called: Change is Brewing, the war, the climate crisis and the dawn of the Solar Era. The illegal war against Iran and surging gas prices highlight the urgency of buildin solar power -- the cheapest, fastest-scaling solution to our growing energy needs, and the climate crisis. Meanwhile, the U.S. delay in adapting this clean, nimble solution, has been paid for by the fossil fuel industry. In the European Union, solar and wind power generated more electricity than fossil fuels last year, while solar installations worldwide climbed 64% in the first half of the year compared with 2024. McKibben will be followed by Brooklyn Assemblyperson Emily Gallagher and Jonathon Cohen, Policy Director of the NY Solar Energies Industry Association, to explain the ASAP and SUNNY bills, game-changing legislation, currently being considered in the Albany budget negotiations, that could supercharge a bright solar future for NY state. Solar One will explain how all New Yorkers – renters and owners -- can choose solar power. We will all take action at the event. This event will be in “the caves,” a former brewery space -30 feet below street level that stays cool (55*F) so please wear a sweater and comfortable shoes. There will be free snacks and drinks, and contributions to 350Brooklyn.org are welcome.
