TPP AND TOXIC TRADE: GLOBAL JUSTICE WILL HAVE TO WAIT

	<thumbnail_url>https://can2-prod.s3.amazonaws.com/events/photos/000/080/003/normal/4th_banner_dec_20.png</thumbnail_url>

Last week, during COP21 negotiations, a leaked corporate document surfaced indicating that during the course of negotiations, there was to be no linkage or discussions about the relationship between neoliberal trade and climate change. Yet the industry lobbyists had unfettered access to the wealthy, most influential world leaders both at the climate talks and during the drafting process for the TPP / TTIP / TiSA and other corporate-designed free trade treaties. And the Customs Enforcement Bill, just passed in The House, bars the president from addressing climate change in any coming trade bills, and in fact, the TPP does not mention climate change even once.Climate injustice is one of many big issues that would be cemented by the Customs bill to ensure generations will witness apocalyptic weather events, destruction of species, shrinking habitats, advancing cancers, fouled waters and more, all in the name of corporate profit over people and the planet. Among civil society groups attending the climate talks, and members of the Least Developed Nations, the sentiment is clear: Current free trade regimes, like The TPP / TTIP / TiSA, with their strictly corporate influence will have a disastrous impact on climate-- the end result of the worst climate offenders paying to play at the COP21, and under free trade regimes the world over. Under the Investor State Dispute Settlement (ISDS) process, oil and fracked gas drilling will be fast-tracked to global disaster unless we stop these corporate trade deals, and insist our Representatives work for equity in trade. NATIONAL TPP TEAM INTERACTIVE CALL SUNDAY, DECEMBER 20 4:30 PACIFIC / 5:30 MOUNTAIN / 6:30 CENTRAL / 7:30 EASTERN TIME TOXIC TRADE: CLIMATE DENIERS DREAM DATE The National TPP Team welcomes Ben Lilliston, Director, Corporate Strategies and Climate Change at the Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy (IATP). Mr. Lilliston is a widely published author on the implications of agriculture and trade, and their implications on climate and sustainable global development. He was in Paris during the talks, and will give us his take on the state of disagreement among those we call world leaders. Also, please welcome, Dan Mauer, Legislative Director, Communication Workers of America, and former Legislative Director for Representative George Miller, CA. who will update us on the implications of the Customs Enforcement Bill that just passed the House, and the likelihood that it will pass in The Senate. Also welcome Becca Eastwood, of the Columban Center for Advocacy and Outreach, who will discuss the Customs Enforcement Bill's attacks on efforts to combat Human Trafficking. And Mike Dolan, International Brotherhood of Teamsters, will address the customs bill as it relates to Labor. We look forward to having you with us on the last call of 2015, where we will also introduce plans for 2016 on the campaign to stop the TPP and other toxic free trade regimes. Thanks for your continued support on this crucial campaign, Harriet Heywood Co-Coordinator, National TPP Team
