Unbreakable Threads x Refugee Week

Join Polish artist Magdalena Jasiak and Ukrainian artist and community worker Natasha Stoianovska for a morning of art, conversation and community. As part of Refugee Week 2026 we're hosting a drop-in textile art workshop. Through weaving, sewing, embroidery and making together, we’ll explore themes of migration, displacement and LGBTQ+ solidarity - finding common ground through craft and shared stories. Magdalena Jasiak is an artist specialising in installation, video, and sound. She was born in Poland and moved to the UK in 2004. Her dual-cultural experiences fuel her efforts to bridge the art scenes of Poland and the West Midlands. Deeply inspired by personal memories, Magdalena uses her projects as therapeutic explorations, often incorporating family memorabilia and objects tied to loved ones. Natasha Stoianovska is a Ukrainian artist, community worker, and art project lead based in the UK. Through her creative practice and community projects, Natasha explores themes of displacement, belonging, identity, and resilience. Having rebuilt her life in the UK following displacement from Ukraine, Natasha works closely with refugee and migrant communities, using art as a tool for connection, self-expression, and social change. Drawing on both lived experience and professional practice, she is passionate about empowering people by creating spaces where they can share their stories, rebuild confidence, and find common ground across different cultures and backgrounds.
