	<thumbnail_url>https://can2-prod.s3.amazonaws.com/events/photos/001/369/213/normal/Screen_Shot_2023-02-01_at_4.12.46_PM.png</thumbnail_url>
<description>Join the Green Leadership Trust for a conversation about unions, environmental nonprofits, and boards of directors. Our panel of experts will explore and contextualize recent events (and longstanding conditions) in the environmental movement that have led to an upward trend of organized workers in green groups. They will also discuss the impact that the allegiance between labor movements and conservation movements has had on public health, especially in collective bargaining contexts. Panelists Bill Fletcher is author of “‘They’re Bankrupting Us’ – And Twenty other myths about unions,” and has served as senior staff at the national AFL-CIO. Tykee James is the co-founder of Amplify the Future, and has organized bird walks with members of Congress as a former president of the DC Audubon Society. Jay Monteverde is the president of The Breach Collective and previously handled environmental justice and other public interest matters as an Assistant Attorney General in Illinois. Dr. Silpa Satheesh is a professor of social sciences at Mahatma Gandhi University (Kerala, India) and has authored many articles and two books, including “Fighting in the Name of Workers: Exploring the Dynamics of Labour-Environmental Conflicts in Kerala.” Moderator Emira Woods is the Executive Director of the Green Leadership Trust and a trustee of the Wallace Global Fund. She is an Associate Fellow at the Institute for Policy Studies and is also a founding member and Ambassador for Africans Rising for Justice, Peace, &amp; Dignity. Event Details The event will take place on zoom, the link for which will be emailed to registrants 24 hours prior to the event. Attendees will have an opportunity to submit questions via chat throughout the event, some of which will be shared with the panelists. Please direct any inquiries to info@greenleadershiptrust.org. We look forward to sharing this phenomenal conversation with you!
