United Women of Color (UWOC) is celebrating Women’s Equality Day 2023 & UWOC’s five years in Madison County. Community leaders, activists, and musicians will explore the opportunities & challenges unique to women in Alabama - and delve into why women's equality is important. We’ll define UWOC’s goals & opportunities. And after sharing a meal, we'll show our unity as we walk 2.5 miles, symbolizing Opal Lee’s Freedom Walk. “We are building relationships across ethnicities, genders, generations, and economic status. We are demonstrating harmony,” says UWOC founder and Executive Director Angela Curry.
