UTS Rally to stop the cuts

	<thumbnail_url>https://can2-prod.s3.amazonaws.com/events/photos/002/036/987/normal/USyd_header_web_page(3).png</thumbnail_url>

At the VC's town-hall Professor Parfitt made it clear that despite overwhelmingly negative responses from UTS staff to his $100m cost savings proposal, that he intends to continue with his plan to make staff pay for the mistakes made by the University Leadership Team (ULT). Somehow, despite a raft of (poorly planned) savings measures (such as the staff freeze), UTS's deficit is continuing to grow in 2025. And yet the VC will not share the financial details that would help staff understand how we got into this predicament, and let us co-develop plans to get us out. The NTEU will not accept any cuts to subjects or staff and we demand a full accounting of the current state of affairs of UTS. So join us on March 12th at 12pm to rally together to call on the VC to open his books to UTS staff. REGISTER TO ATTEND TODAY! We are going to need every UTS staff member working together to prevent job cuts and subject cuts. The ULT have not shared information on any risks to cashflow under a no-change scenario, and the VC's own modelling and last annual report predict a return to surplus in the medium-term. If the ULT are convinced of the need to fire hundreds of UTS staff and to slash subjects they should share the data, consultation findings, and reports that they claim underpin their decisions. Join together to defend jobs, to defend subjects, and defend public education & research.
