Featuring the tallest point in Wareham, it consists of untouched, continuous expanses of forest, home to native species, and forms a local wildlife corridor with surrounding landscapes. The eastern side of the hill was preserved by the Town of Wareham and the Wareham Land Trust 25 years ago this month - now the western side is under attack. A solar developer has been fighting hard to place 20 acres of industrial solar on the hill - on steep slopes, upgradient of private wells, and in a manner that cuts down 20 acres of forest, disrupts natural stormwater patterns, and threatens the stability of the hillside. This is not a good place for solar - and the Town knows it. The local Planning Board denied it, and the Conservation Commission did too. But the developer is winning in courts - and now it's up to us to fight back. Can you join a dedicated group of volunteers willing to take "the last stand" on Fearing Hill?
