So far they have failed to respond to our letters asking for a meeting, so we hope this Lobby & Knit will get them to come out and talk to us. Please come and join our moving lobby - we'll be inviting our MPs to meet us outside their offices and we need them to see that local people (many of whom are their constituents) want them to act on home insulation. The shape of the afternoon will be: A 45 min gathering outside each of our 3 MPs office where we knit/crochet hand warmers, wave placards, display our lovely WarmHomesLeics quilt and hopefully actually get to talk to our MPs. If an MP agrees to a meeting on a different day beforehand we will skip their office on the 29th. This means we can't finalise the timing of exactly where we go when until a week or so beforehand. Please plan to come to the whole thing and we'll communicate more details nearer the time. We'll move between the offices by bike (for those of us who cycle) and electric car (we'll organise lift shares). Afterwards (around 5.30pm) we'll go out for a meal in a restaurant so we can debrief, celebrate and enjoy each others company. It would be lovely if you have time and want to join us. To encourage our MPs to join us we will also invite the press. We've timed the lobby to happen just before the next fuel price rise (they're expected to go up another 3-5%) which will hopefully encourgae the press and MPs to show up. You don't have to do the talking to the MPs, but shout if you'd like to (we'll have a meeting beforehand to decide who will say what). You don't have to be able to cycle in between offices - but it will look good to the press if we have a good sized clump of cyclists (as well as having a lower carbon footprint than driving). You don't have to be able to knit or crochet. You can learn there and then or choose not to. Again this is about providing a visual hook to attract the media and to give us something fun to do while we're there.
