<thumbnail_url>https://can2-prod.s3.amazonaws.com/events/photos/003/115/121/normal/Flotilla_Fundraiser_Header_AN.png</thumbnail_url>

Join Etobicoke South for Palestine as we screen Where Olive Trees Weep to fundraise for the Canada Boat Gaza participating in the latest Freedom Flotilla mobilization which launched April 12th. Proceeds from this event will be donated directly to the crew of Canada Boat Gaza. Vendor Market and Bake Sale: 6:00-6:45pm Film Screening: 6:45pm - 8:30pm Q&A with Producer Finlay MacNeil: 8:30pm - 9:00pm Where Olive Trees Weep offers a searing window into the struggles and resilience of the Palestinian people under Israeli occupation. It explores themes of loss, trauma, and the quest for justice. We follow, among others, Palestinian journalist and therapist Ashira Darwish, grassroots activist Ahed Tamimi, and Israeli journalist Amira Hass. We also witness Dr. Gabor Maté offer trauma-healing work to a group of women who were tortured in Israeli prisons. Ancient landscapes bear deep scars, having witnessed the brutal reality of ancestral land confiscation, expulsions, imprisonment, home demolitions, water deprivation, and denial of basic human rights. Yet, through the veil of oppression, we catch a glimpse of resilience—deep roots that have carried the Palestinian people through decades of darkness and shattered lives. Directors: Zaya Benazzo, Maurizio Benazzo Producers: Ashira Darwish, Zaya Benazzo, Maurizio Benazzo, Finley MacNeil
