A powerful few have allowed Amazon to exert extreme influence over our safety, livelihoods, and democracy. But an unexpected group of current and former Amazon workers is fighting back, forcing the second-largest U.S. employer to take notice. Pregnant and postpartum Amazon workers have been campaigning for over a year to secure protections for expectant mothers in Amazon’s warehouses. More than 2,000 pregnant workers’ stories collected by Warehouse Life describe a pervasive pattern of Amazon delaying and denying accommodations for pregnant workers. These accommodations are protected by federal law, yet Amazon’s disregard has led pregnant workers to face job loss, homelessness, and medical emergencies, including miscarriages. No one should have to choose between a paycheck and a healthy pregnancy. Worker leaders with Warehouse Life have drafted their own pregnancy accommodations and procedures. Amazon must adopt these worker-led solutions. Workers’ testimonies have already forced Amazon to the table once. Now, they need your help to ensure Amazon cannot ignore their demands for safety. Together–unions, organizations, and individual activists–we will use our collective power to ensure pregnant workers’ demands are enforced. Commit to showing up for pregnant and postpartum Amazon workers so that we can: Demand that Congress open a formal investigation into Amazon’s treatment of pregnant and postpartum workers. Challenge any members of the Trump regime and local government officials who benefit from Amazon’s unchecked corporate harm—especially former executives who now hold positions of power over workers. Hit the streets wherever Amazon and its executives seek to hurt workers and their communities by expanding their unregulated monopoly. From Whole Foods to Amazon Web Services data centers, we’ll be there. Support pregnant Amazon workers organizing for a voice on the job, especially those facing corporate retaliation and intimidation.
