CA voters: Press REJECT on the gig company ballot initiative!

	<thumbnail_url>https://actionnetwork.org//images/generic_facebook.jpg</thumbnail_url>

If you haven’t seen the ads already, you will soon: Gig companies like DoorDash, Instacart, and Postmates are trying to win a CA ballot initiative this year that would give them total control over regulating their industry. And they’ve already poured $110 million into the campaign. That amount of money buys a lot of misleading messaging...so you can expect to see a ton of ads claiming their goal is to create higher pay standards in the industry. But if they wanted to pay us more money, they could just pay us more money. What their law actually does is make low pay the standard. The initiative would lock in pay standards that don’t cover our actual expenses. It would allow companies to get away with treating workers more like employees, without giving them employee benefits. And some sneaky policies they've written in would make it almost impossible for us to change the laws they've written for themselves. Gig companies claim their ballot initiative is about protecting flexibility & freedom for workers. But when they say “flexibility,” they mean their flexibility to expand profits while keeping workers on the hook for all the costs. And when they say “freedom,” they mean the freedom to decide for themselves what standards for the gig economy should look like — with 0 input from workers. That’s why gig workers across California on apps like DoorDash, Instacart, and Postmates are calling for your support & asking you to pledge to vote NO and reject the companies’ misleading ballot initiative this November. The companies are counting on CA voters to just tap "accept" without reading all the terms & conditions. So click here to read what it’s really all about...and then pledge to vote NO by signing your name below.
