<description>Many of the freedoms that we have as Wisconsinites have come before the Wisconsin State Supreme Court. The Wisconsin Supreme Court is an elected body, serving 10-year terms, that defends our freedoms under our state constitution and laws. While the court is non-partisan, the justices’ rulings are based on their conservative or progressive values. Currently, the court has 4-3 conservative majority with one conversative justice retiring. The outcome of spring elections will sway the court.   PAST ISSUES BEFORE THE COURT FUTURE ISSUES BEFORE THE COURT Redistricting Election Ballot Drop Boxes Voter ID Act 10* Executive Powers (Lame Duck Legislation) * Executive Appointments* COVID-19 Emergency Orders Environmental Regulations *AFT-Wisconsin named in case Redistricting (current and future maps) 1849 Abortion Law and any future laws Election rules and voter access 2024 Presidential election Environmental Regulations LGBTQ+ rights MISINFORMATION CAMPAIGN Public Safety: cash bail, lenient sentences, limited law endorsement resources FACT: The Wisconsin State Supreme Court does not rule in criminal cases but does rule on state law regarding criminal justice.
