Give public comment about #DemocratizeComEd at City Council

	<thumbnail_url>https://actionnetwork.org//images/generic_facebook.jpg</thumbnail_url>

Sign up to learn more about giving public comment at the next city council meeting on a potential franchise agreement, in person or virtually, at 10am on Wednesday, February 1st. A democratically controlled, municipal utility remains our best shot at achieving clean, affordable, and reliable electricity in Chicago. We need a franchise agreement that will give us the options to fight for a better electric utility, not lock us in for another fifteen years or more. Public comment is an incredible, if underappreciated, aspect of engaging with the political process. If you provide us your contact information, we will instruct you on how to sign up to provide public comment. We can also help you prepare by providing suggestions and feedback. City council only allows for a total of 10 total speakers during public comment, so not everyone who volunteers to give comment will be selected. Public comment is only 3 minutes long and can a powerful way to engage with our government. The voice of the public can and does carry great weight with elected officials. It can be the difference between obscurity and public attention, special interest domination and public power, and even victory and defeat.
