Interested in being a Green councillor?

Suffolk desperately needs more Green voices in positions of influence, and taking five minutes to fill out the simple form on the right means you are not ruling out your once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be one of those voices. We can talk you through everything that is involved. The selection process requires you to fill out a simple questionnaire and then talking to a panel of three of us who have been through the experience already. One of our councillors, Sallie Davies, said: "I was really worried at first about the role. I never thought I could do it. But stepping out of my comfort zone has really changed my life for the better and actually made me a more confident person. I'm loving it now. I'd recommend it to anyone who is looking for a new challenge." Simon Harley, one of our own Suffolk County Councillors, said: "Being a councillor is an opportunity to be involved in one's community. It's about getting things done and finding out what levers to pull to achieve this. It's great to see improvements you have funded happening and to use your role to back local projects and individuals. I also enjoy having the ability to say what you think in public and be heard. I found there is change from wary acceptance when you are first elected to approval, and even respect from residents - and even from opponents at times." Here's a video on the experience of other Greens of being a councillor.
