Join the Fight Against Private Equity!

	<thumbnail_url>https://actionnetwork.org//images/generic_facebook.jpg</thumbnail_url>

Private equity buys our hospitals and treats them like ATMs. Leonard Green and its investors pulled more than half a billion dollars out of Prospect Medical Holdings while Waterbury Hospital's elevators failed, supplies ran short, and caregivers were stretched past breaking. By 2020, nearly every Prospect hospital sat in the bottom of federal quality rankings. Then the whole company collapsed into bankruptcy. This is not one bad company. It is a business model. And the research confirms it: patients suffer 25 percent more harm, more falls, more infections, after private equity takes over a hospital. Now Washington has passed the largest Medicaid cut in history. As many as 150,000 Connecticut residents stand to lose coverage, and more than a third of our state's hospitals, the highest share in the nation, are at risk of cutting services or closing. The hospitals Wall Street hollowed out are the same ones these cuts will push over the edge. Tonight we grieve what's been taken. Then we organize. We're continuing the campaign to get private equity out of Connecticut healthcare: banning private equity ownership of hospitals; real public review before any hospital changes hands; an end to looting through debt and real estate schemes; and accountability for the firms that profited while our communities suffered and paid. Sign the pledge before you leave. This fight starts in healthcare. It will not stay there.
