The IEA and the Opportunity Coalition are pleased to announce the first Leaders for Just Schools cohorts will begin this fall. Each cohort will meet one Saturday morning per quarter for training and leadership development over the course of the 2020-2021 school year. The instructors are state and local leaders, award winning educators and experienced community organizers who will help you build momentum for change in your local schools and communities. Due to generous support from the Kellogg Foundation and the NEA, we are able to provide this training for you at no cost. To join the cohort you must agree to attend all four sessions. It is crucial to have the full cohort at each session to build relationships, trust and momentum to impact our schools and communities. For those who complete the training, there will be opportunities to receive organizing stipends from the Opportunity Coalition to lead work in your own local area. In addition, you will receive a micro-credential distinguishing you as a “Leader for Just Schools”. The curriculum includes modules dealing with racial and social justice, systems thinking and Trauma Informed Practices The cohorts are limited in number so please apply NOW. However, if you register and don’t attend, you WILL be taking that slot for someone else who would have wanted to participate. The application process will take you 5-10 minutes.
