Protect Public Sector Workers From Unchecked AI Decision-Making

	<thumbnail_url>https://actionnetwork.org//images/generic_facebook.jpg</thumbnail_url>

Artificial intelligence is rapidly being introduced into workplaces across the country, often without transparency, oversight, or worker consent. Automated decision-making systems are already being used to evaluate performance, influence discipline, and shape hiring decisions. These systems can be biased, inaccurate, and impossible for workers to challenge, yet they are being deployed in ways that directly impact people’s jobs and livelihoods. The Meaningful Human Control of Artificial Intelligence Act sets critical safeguards to ensure that public sector workers (and contractors and subcontractors) are protected as these technologies expand. This bill would: Require meaningful human oversight over AI systems affecting employment and worker rights Protect collective bargaining by requiring negotiation before AI is deployed Ensure transparency and access to data collected about workers Stop the use of AI systems when bias or inaccuracies are found Ban the use of automated systems in key employment decisions like hiring, firing, and discipline in the public sector Labor unions have made this legislation a top priority because they understand that without clear rules, AI can be used to undermine workers and concentrate power in the hands of employers and unaccountable systems. We believe that technology should serve people, not replace their rights. As this bill moves forward after passing out of committee, it is critical that lawmakers hear loud and clear that workers are demanding real protections now. Add your name to become a grassroots co-signer of the Meaningful Human Control of Artificial Intelligence Act and join a growing movement demanding accountability, transparency, and worker protections in the age of AI.
