Our Principles of Radical Childcare are: [Collective Work]: We believe in shared labor and decision-making that is sustainable and community-driven. We create a culture of mutual responsibility and group work. [Economic Justice]: We charge a living wage of at least $15/hr for all of our childcare providers and engage in trading to support families and small organizations who are unable to afford our rates. [Racial Justice]: We support and celebrate Black children, Brown children, Indigenous Turtle Islander children, Asian children, and all children of color. We honor the many ways they express themselves and their cultures. We also center the needs of our Black and Brown childcare providers. [Gender Affirmation]: We support children’s agency and celebrate the many different ways that gender can be expressed and explored. We are feminist and womanist in how we engage with children. [Body Affirmation]: We celebrate all body types especially fat bodies, differently-abled bodies, and any bodies that fall outside the dominant norm. We firmly believe Sonya Taylor’s mantra that the body is not an apology. [Consent Culture]: In non-life threatening situations, we ask children for permission before any physical interaction and honor their decisions. We believe a child should not be forced or shamed into physically interacting with an adult. It is OKAY if your child doesn’t want to hug us, shake our hands or wave to us. [Restorative Justice]: We practice safe, reflective, and holistic accountability. We are never punitive, physical, or coercive with children. We do not micromanage children. [Child Friendly Activism]: We believe that children can be included in activist spaces and we engage them meaningfully in social justice issues. [Informal Work / Informal Economy Affirmation]: We support sex workers, workers on food stamps, disabled workers, workers in the cannabis industry, and migrant workers. We will protect the privacy of families we work with. We do not collaborate with the police or ice. Please use the form below to request childcare for your child.
