With a federal election taking place in 2025, CUPE BC is working with the CLC Pacific Region to get as many of our leaders and members thinking about why it is crucial to elect a progressive, worker-friendly government at the federal level. All of the costs related to the program will be covered by CUPE BC in partnership with CUPE, as per the Division's Expense Policy. Through the first two weeks of March there will be two levels of political action training. 1. Political Action Conferences These one day long sessions are intended for leaders from Locals; those who have decision-making power or influence from your membership. The Political Action Conferences are targeted at local union leadership that wish to engage with their membership about the federal election. This could be Presidents, Secretary-Treasurers, or Political Action Committee Chairs. The course is taking place in Burnaby (March 4) and Nanaimo (March 14). 2. Engage, Organize, Mobilize: Canvassing for Change Training This one-day training is a great introduction to organizing a canvass, discussing federal issues, working with volunteers, and talking to your friends, family, and co-workers about the issues affecting them. It is open to all CUPE members who want to have an impact in this upcoming election. The course is taking place in Vancouver (March 5), Surrey (March 6), the Tri-Cities (March 7), Nanaimo (March 13), Victoria (March 14), and the Comox Valley (March 14). If you are a president, please submit yourself and your members for registration. We will presume that they are approved to attend, but will follow-up with additional information. If you are a CUPE member, please apply as soon as possible so that we can confirm your Local will support you attending. We will follow-up directly with you as quickly as we are able.
