The continued obstruction of transparent investigation and the exclusion of state authorities from meaningful participation are unacceptable. We demand that DHS immediately: Stop harboring, shielding, transferring, or otherwise insulating the agents believed to be responsible for the deaths of Renee Good and Alex Pretti, including any administrative moves that place them beyond scrutiny or accountability. Halt any efforts to prevent state and local investigators from accessing evidence or conducting a concurrent investigation in both cases. Commit to a fully transparent, joint investigation with state law enforcement and independent oversight. Preserve ALL physical evidence, body worn camera footage, communications records, and forensic materials intact, without alteration, deletion, or destruction. An independent autopsy has now confirmed that Renee Good’s death was a homicide. In the case of Alex Pretti, the available video evidence clearly disputes official DHS statements on the incident. These are deaths that meet the threshold for criminal investigation under any serious understanding of the law. The unavoidable question, then, is why the officers involved were immediately removed from the state and, in the case of Jonathan Ross, taken into hiding. Under Title 18, United States Code, Section 1519, knowingly altering, destroying, mutilating, or concealing a record, document, or other object with the intent to impede, obstruct, or influence an investigation is a federal crime. Two families are living with an emptiness that does not begin to heal when their killers are shielded by their own government. This must end. Open the files and stop protecting the agents involved. Cooperate fully with state authorities and independent oversight. Tell the public what happened and how it will never be allowed to happen again. Anything less will be understood for what it is: a cover up in plain sight.
