The opening days of the second Trump administration have made it abundantly clear that the next four years will be challenging for women and LGBTQ+ people. Our organizing will be that much more vital, and we will need a consistent source of funds to help meet our neighbors’ many needs, as well as attorneys’ fees and other costs associated with the anticipated rapid-response actions that will be necessary to protect and support our community. We are fundraising to provide folks in our community with condoms, emergency contraception, and pregnancy tests; organize informational clinics and produce literature about abortion and reproductive care, gender-affirming care, and gender marker and name changes; push for Arlington and other Northern Virginia jurisdictions to join Alexandria and declare themselves LGBTQ+ sanctuary cities; and support community-based organizations providing critical services such the DC Abortion Fund and HIPS. Your donations will also help us cover costs associated with providing community spaces and events, digital tools that enable us to reach more people, and printing for canvassing, tabling, and wheatpasting, all of which are all critical to informing people about our work and getting more folks involved.
