Many of those who we have served have since used their DACA status to help others apply for DACA and  to fight for protection for their parents, for others in their communities, and against SB4. On September 5, 2017, the Trump Administration announced the decision to rescind DACA. For individuals whose DACA status expires on or before March 5, 2018, they have until October 5, 2017 to file a renewal and retain their DACA status for two more years. RAICES is committed to helping DACAmented individuals file their renewals before the October 5th deadline. Each DACA renewal application costs $495. While we are outraged by the decision to rescind DACA, we must remember how it was won. DACA was not a gift from friendly politicians, but rather it was won by undocumented youth who bravely participated in civil disobedience around the country. As the Trump Administration and advocates now call upon Congress to act, RAICES reaffirms our commitment to stand with all members of the immigrant community. We will resist any attempt to play politics with immigrant lives. We refuse to negotiate protection for some and increased criminalization, detention, and deportation of others.
