Richmond Democracy Center - Internet Project

There are 6 low-income housing projects in the City of Richmond; while broadband is most certainly available, most residents cannot afford to pay for broadband. The Democracy Center will provide free wifi hotspots for low-income housing project residents. The system is designed as a login system (similar to the airport) where people sign-in, and then watch a video, take a survey or learn about upcoming Democracy Center events and activities. This allows us to get contact information for hard to reach people and informs them of what is happening in their community around housing, wealth building, education, COVID, etc. The cost of each unit is $2,000 (this include wifi hotspot and software). Center for Common Ground is a non-partisan 501(c)(3) organization. Donations to Center for Common Ground are tax-deductible under IRS rules.
