The Heavy Haulers Invitational is a weighted bicycle obstacle "race" that is also a fundraiser for Bike Durham, the Durham Bicycle Co-Op, and the Durham Community Food Pantry. Riders from various organizations in Durham will navigate an obstacle course on bike in an action-packed time trial "race" on October 16 at the Scrap Exchange at 1:30 pm. Each dollar you donate has the power to shift the riders' loads by a set weight ($5 = 2 lb, $10 = 5 lb, etc). With your donation, you can choose to either Sandbag (add weight) to all riders, or Lighten the Load of a rider of your choice. As the Sandbag total goes up, it will be even more important for individual riders to get some help from donors like you to lighten their loads, so spread the word! The Heavy Haulers Invitational is taking place in conjunction with Bike Durham's annual Move-A-Bull City event on October 16 at the Scrap Exchange in Durham, NC. Please note that due to physics and limitations of bikes and the human body, weight limits will be capped at 100 lbs, not including the weight of the bike and the rider.
