We hope you're enjoying the coverage we put together for our soft launch. When we looked into what it would take to create and sustain a daily news outlet that could genuinely be a source of communication and connection reflecting reflects the needs of working-class people in the region, we knew it needed to be a worker- and reader-owned cooperative. Reader-members can participate democratically in decision making about this local news outlet and even sit on the board. Worker-members will be empowered to make the day-to-day decisions that run the Pittsburgh Progress, but always with the input of reader-members in mind. Between our soft launch and hard launch everything on PittsburghProgress.com is free to read. Once we begin daily coverage with our hard launch later this year, we will have a metered paywall. Everyone will be able to five articles per month for free. Past that, you'll need a subscription. Subscriptions will cost $12/mo. A subscription is not the same as co-op membership. You also don't need a membership to be a subscriber. Why these prices? TL;DR: You can start paying what a monthly subscription will cost: $9.99. You can purchase a co-op membership today for $100. Or you can start paying whatever you can toward that membership today. You can buy an annual subscription today for $100. Or you can start paying what you can toward that subscription today. You can buy both for $200. You can give us more than that. We're happy to talk about further business investment. Just know that our co-op runs on One Member, One Vote.
