Donations go to Food AND Medicine, but are designated solely for MSCG. Maple Street Community Garden is currently seeking donations to support the installation of a water line for the garden. A water line will ensure permanent water infrastructure, enabling Maple Street Community Garden to be a strong resource for the area for years to come. Maple Street Community Garden is founded with the goal to foster community among Brewer residents by gardening together, providing a space to sit and talk in the park, teaching gardening and cooking skills, and providing assistance to those experiencing food insecurity. In its first year, the garden has been a huge success. All 31 beds were rented with a wait-list indicating more interest from community members. Plots have been overgrown with produce, and gardeners are learning from each other how to overcome specific challenges. Produce from two beds goes directly to the Brewer Area Food Pantry through volunteer efforts. We want to continue working to provide greater food access to our community.
