On April 29, 2021, he died alone while in quarantine at a hotel in Ontario, Canada. It was his 4th year coming to work in Canada and the money he made from his job was going to help complete construction on the family home and help pay for his sibling's schooling. The family has not received any monetary support since his death. Migrant Workers Alliance for Change is working with Romario's mother, Vera, to organize this fundraiser to support the family and honour her firstborn son's memory. All funds raised will be transferred toe family. Vera says, "Romario was my first son who made me a mother. He was a loving and caring son, he was my provider and my right hand. Romario love to give joke and very fun to be around, never a dull day with Romario, always make you happy. Romario was a sailor, love to sail boat at Easter in Bequia. He always want to provide for his family."
