Solidarity Harvest Sponsor-A-Meal

	<thumbnail_url>https://can2-prod.s3.amazonaws.com/fundraisings/photos/000/099/450/normal/Harvest_basket_2019.jpg</thumbnail_url>

Solidarity Harvest began in 2003 to support 100 laid-off union workers and their families. The program has grown to 1650 baskets to families in all 16 counties in Maine. Money is raised to purchase the food for the meal baskets from Maine farms and food producers - everything from apples and cranberries, to potatoes and squash, to butter. Each meal basket contains enough food to feed 8-10 people; not a single can is included. Turkeys are donated, as is stuffing, which is collected in stuffing drives from allies. Unions, faith organizations, recovery supports and non-profits identify the need and distribute the baskets directly to their clients/members, strengthening those organizations. Food AND Medicine gives out very few meal baskets directly. Increasing basket costs have brought the cost of baskets to about $45; the retail value of these baskets is triple that. We hope you'll consider sponsoring one or more meal baskets, and know that your solidarity is felt by thousands of people across the state of Maine. Thank you!
