On September 30, 2025 Victoria Orange Shirt Day and Capital Bike will work in partnership with Songhees Community member Diane Sam and other Indigenous serving organizations, to hold the 5th Annual Truth and Reconciliation Day Ride. This free event annually attracts between 550 and 750 residents of the Capital Region to deepen their knowledge of the harmful impacts of colonialism and demonstrate their support through attending a ride from the traditional territories of the Songhees Nation to the South Island Powwow. The event will feature testimony from residential school survivor Eddy Charlie of Quw'utsun and lessons from friends and allies Jenny Farkas and Su Hallett, who will share how they show support to those impacted by colonialism. This is a free event, and we are asking anyone who can contribute to consider donating to help fund bicycle education for First Nations children and youth and other Indigenous service actions. Any donation is greatly appreciated.
