It was a commonsense policy that protected workers from losing their jobs simply because of federal delays. Last October, the Trump administration eliminated it entirely – stripping 3.8 million workers of that protection in service of an anti-immigration agenda. Workers who did everything right, who filed on time and followed every rule, can now be legally fired and deported simply because the government is slow. Now, there's a bipartisan fix. S.J. Res. 99, led by Sen. Jacky Rosen, would overturn this rule. A vote is expected in the coming weeks.
