Take Action: Protect Affordable Health Care!

	<thumbnail_url>https://actionnetwork.org//images/generic_facebook.jpg</thumbnail_url>

On January 1, health insurance premiums will double or even triple for working Americans. The premium notices are already going out. For example, an individual paying an $888 premium in 2025 will see their premium increase to roughly $1,904 in 2026 -- and families much more. At a time when affordability is on everyone’s minds, politicians in DC should stop this catastrophe before it’s a reality. The federal government just went through its longest-ever shutdown while Democrats tried to urge Republicans to address the looming crisis. Republicans paid lip service to wanting to help people afford health care, but claimed that they would only come to the table when the government re-opened. Now, House Democrats have filed a discharge petition to force Speaker Mike Johnson to hold a vote on a 3-year extension of the ACA subsidies. If the Discharge Petition gets 218 signatures, Speaker Johnson cannot block a floor vote. If every Democrat signs, it would only take 4 Republicans to join them in lowering health care premiums for their constituents. We need to send a message that the health care emergency isn’t over just because the shutdown ended. Can you use our simple tool to check and see if your Representative has already signed the discharge petition, and send them a message today? Enter your address and click ‘Start Writing’ to find out if your Representative has already signed the discharge petition, and then send them a message supporting affordable health care with just a few clicks.
