Elon Musk spent $290 million to elect Trump in 2024.1 Over the course of the 2024 election cycle, 300 billionaires and their families spent over $3 billion — 19% of all federal election spending.2 It's a direct threat to our democracy. Super PACs allow the ultra-rich to spend unlimited sums to support their preferred candidates. We have to end the tightening grip of Trump's oligarchy on our politics. Senator Bernie Sanders and Rep. Summer Lee introduced a bill to fight back and abolish super PACs.3 Sign the petition: Back Bernie's bill to end unlimited billionaire spending in elections. "As we enter the 2026 elections, we’re seeing billionaires spend far more money in a primary or midterm than at any time in history," Sen. Sanders said. "You, as a citizen, get one vote. They, as oligarchs, get to buy the candidates."4 Day in and day out in Washington, we see how far removed our elected leaders are from the wants and needs of their constituents. That's because Elon Musk, billionaires, AI super PACs, ExxonMobil, Amazon, and other corporate giants are flooding the airwaves, mail, and internet with advertising for candidates that back THEIR interests, not ours.
