Tell the U.S. Senate to reject Project 2025’s author as Director of the Office of Management and Budget

The Office of Management and Budget controls all federal spending -- impacting every household and every community on Turtle Island. Hundreds of Tribal programs were under threat when the administration announced the funding freeze, from grants that support Native schools to Native agriculture to infrastructure projects to cancer prevention. The Denver Indian Center reacted to the freeze by announcing that “effective immediately, all classes, appointments, and activities associated with [the Native Workforce program and the Honoring Fatherhood program] are paused until further notice.” These federal funding commitments are critical to fulfilling the government’s treaty and trust obligations to Tribal Nations. These commitments are not discretionary -- they are a solemn responsibility rooted in the unique relationship between Tribal Nations and the federal government. Unfortunately, Donald Trump’s nominee for Director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), Russell Vought, does not see it that way. He has called the Impoundment Control Act, which prevents the executive branch from impounding funds previously allocated by Congress, unconstitutional. He is the author of Project 2025, which is an extreme threat to Tribal-federal relations and our rights as sovereign nations to make decisions about policies that impact our lands, resources, and people. Trump is now attempting to give Vought the power to unleash his radical right-wing, unconstitutional agenda on all aspects of society. Click “Start Writing” to send a message directly to your U.S. senators demanding they reject Russell Vought as Director of OMB and protect Indian Country, and all of our communities, from this dangerous, illegal, executive overreach.
