Northeastern PA: Rep. Bresnahan Promised to Protect Medicaid. Then He Voted for H.R. 1 Twice.

Before Congress took up H.R. 1, Rep. Rob Bresnahan said he would not vote for legislation that “guts the benefits my neighbors rely on.” Then he voted YES on H.R. 1 twice — including the final legislation that enacted sweeping changes to Medicaid. Now the Commonwealth estimates 21,637 people in PA-08 could lose Medicaid coverage as the law is implemented, while local hospitals face growing financial pressure. Families buying coverage through Pennie are already paying more, too. According to Pennie data, average monthly premium costs per enrollee increased by: → $122 in Lackawanna County → $116 in Luzerne County → $284 in Monroe County → $201 in Pike County → $81 in Wayne County Bresnahan said the benefits his neighbors rely on were promises that should be kept. PA-08 residents can ask him to keep that commitment: protect Medicaid coverage, help make Pennie coverage affordable, and protect the hospitals Northeastern Pennsylvania depends on. Tell Rep. Bresnahan: PA-08 families are already paying the price. Help fix the damage and deliver affordable health care.
