Calling on the Board of Public Works: Fund the Frontline

AFSCME Council 3 is calling on the Board of Public Works to take immediate action to Fund the Frontlines and provide proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), testing plans for what happens when Maryland re-opens, Hero Pay, and adequate staff to do our jobs! The Board of Public Works (BPW) consists of the State Treasurer Nancy Kopp, Comptroller Peter Franchot and Governor Larry Hogan who is currently represented by Lt. Governor Boyd Rutherford. The BPW is empowered to oversee the State's procurement, can authorize cuts to the budget and acts as oversight when the Legislature is not in session During this time of crisis, the BPW plays a critical role in acquiring personal protective equipment (PPE) and other essential supplies to combat the spread of the virus. Maryland public service workers are leading on-the-ground efforts to respond to COVID-19, often at significant risk and hardship to themselves. That's why we need to send a clear message to the Board of Public Works to #FundtheFrontlines.
